I'd like to have wars where say if you beat GB in a minor trade/colonial conflict you could grab a few of their protectorates in India for the trade power. My main criticsm is that it always seems to takes %100 war score to aquire one or take one from someone else.
That being said they could still use some more work. I understand it might seem anoying from a blobby game perspective but from a more historical, realistical point of view I appreciate them. This also gives small less developed nations an oppertunity to stay in the game instead of being gobbled up by colonial or other regional powers. It never made much sense to me that some European nation could vassalize and integrate some nation in say the Horn of Africa that your nation would then consider a core. I also like that you cannot integrate them. I find that if you are playing a trading nation they are incredibly important for getting trade power in far flung areas that you may not be able to, or not want to, directly conquer. Now, I want to annex the rest of Crimea and Zaporozhie, but cancelling the Protectorate status would cost stability.
